Media and Cell Phone Policy: Understanding the Use of Media and Cell Phones in On-Campus

Upholding a Professional and Safe, and Private Learning Environment

Media Policy 📸:

The Media Release Form found in the mandatory waiver is separated into 3 different sections: Media for marketing purposes, Group Photos send to parents via LMS, and the Reproduction of created materials.
    1. 📈 Media for Marketing Purposes: We will have photographers and Coordinators taking photos, videos, and other media for marketing and promotional materials.
    2. 📷 Group Photos sent to parents via LMS: If you wish for your student to have photos for personal memory purposes, you can opt-in to have your student in a group picture, which will be sent by the Coordinator via the LMS.
    3. 📊 Reproduction of Created Materials: If you sign this, you give Circuit Stream the ability to show what your student has created in their own promotional and marketing materials.
Other Rules:
  • 🚨 48 Hours: All Circuit Stream employees who take photos are subject to uploading the media to a private, confidential, and company-owned google drive folder, after which all photos must be deleted from their personal device.
  • 🔒 Discretion: Coordinators automatically have permissions. Before being hired, Coordinators must pass a Vulnerable Sector Police Check, and are trained in privacy matters concerning minors. Other staff members may be granted temporary permissions at the discretion and responsibility of the Youth Program Coordinator.

Cell Phone Policy 📱

  • ☎️ Circuit Stream notes that cell phones are critical communication devices and how effective they are with communicating with parents and guardians. However, cell phones and other personal devices are a significant source of distraction.
  • 🚫 Circuit Stream Staff including the Teaching Assistant, the Coordinator, and Instructors reserve the right to confiscate cell phones or other personal devices during instructional periods if they are distracting a student and/or surrounding students. These devices will be placed on the instructor's desk, visible to students at all times.
  • ☝️The device will be returned to the student at the following break time, snack, or lunch break with the opportunity to switch their behaviour more conducive to a learning environment.
