On-Campus Health and Safety: Medications and Health Procedures

Circuit Stream is dedicated to maintaining safety relating to health and medicine.

Important: Please do not send your student to camp if they are sick.

💊Epi-Pen and Medications Policy

When filling out waivers, all medications must be reported. While the Youth Program Coordinators have CPR and First Aid Training, they are not medical professionals and should not be required to administer medication beyond epipens. This said, it is important for there to be records of any medication a student is taking in case of a medical emergency.

Storing Epi-Pens: Coordinators are trained to administer Epi-pens and can help out in case of an emergency. There is a mandated way to store Epipens to get to them in an emergency. The front pocket of a student's backpack is where an Epi-Pen should be stored. After waivers, parents and guardians of those who have an Epi-pen will be updated on this policy by the Youth Program Coordinator.

🏠When we send a student home

The following symptoms are what we consider sick enough to be sent home:

  • Loss of Appetite
  • Migraine
  • Sore Throat
  • Chills
  • Cough
  • Watery Eyes
  • Nausea/Vomit
  • Fever

🤒How we deal with outbreaks

  • We define an outbreak as 2 or more people (staff included) suffering from the same sickness and/or symptoms.
  • In the case this happens, the Coordinator will reach out to guardians via email to communicate that there has been a spread of sickness during the course, emphasizing to parents and guardians to not send their student to camp if they have any symptoms. If further actions must be taken, the Coordinator will be in contact with you.

👨‍⚕️When a Student can return after sickness:

  • Pink Eye: Until they are free of symptoms for 24 hours after using eye drops
  • Norovirus: 48 hours after symptoms have disappeared
  • Strep Thraot: 24 hours after starting an appropriate antibiotic treatment
  • Lice: After treatment with anti-lice shampoo and a cream rinse. When a student is identified to have lice, the Youth Program Coordinator will send an email notification to all parents and guardians.
  • Measles: Even if they are only exhibiting signs and symptoms, they are asked to stay home and not attend camp at all.
  • Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease: 24 hours after fever subsides without the use of fever-reducing medication.
