Essential Tools for Your Software Development Journey
To help you succeed in the Software Development Bootcamp, you'll need to install some essential software tools. This includes an Integrated Development Environment (IDE), a web browser, a Version Control System (VCS), a graphical interface for Git, and a package manager.
What is an IDE?
An IDE (Integrated Development Environment) is an application that simplifies software development. While code is technically just text can be written using something as simple as Notepad, an IDE provides dedicated tools like a course code editor, build automation tools, and a debugger, making the development process much more efficient.
A good IDE will facilitate the creation of all sorts of projects!
Essential Software to Install
- Install a Text Editor or Integrated Development (IDE): Visual Studio Code
- Install a Web Browser: Google Chrome
- Install a Version Control System (VCS): Git: Installing Git
- Complement Git with a Graphical Interface: GitHub Desktop
